What Tiqstar collects, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what you can do about it.

Last updated 2 August 2026

What we collect

Only what we need to make the platform work. Here is the whole list.

  • Account details — your name, email address, phone number, your password (scrambled so that nobody, including us, can read it back), and any profile picture, city or interests you add.
  • Orders and tickets — what you bought, when, for how much, in which currency, and the tickets issued to you, including whether and when each was scanned.
  • Payment data — handled by the payment company, not by us. If you save a card we keep the last four digits, the type of card, and a code that means nothing outside that company. Full card numbers never reach Tiqstar's servers.
  • Verification documents — where you apply to sell tickets or offer services, if you apply to sell tickets or offer services, the documents that show who you are, or who your business is, so we can approve you and pay you.
  • Payout details — the bank or mobile-money account creators and vendors are paid into.
  • Content you post — event pages, vendor portfolios, reviews, messages sent through the platform, and support tickets.
  • Technical data — your IP address, which device and browser you are using, and a record of where you are signed in — so you can see that list and sign yourself out. If you turn on notifications, we also store the code your phone or browser needs to receive them.

We do not buy personal information from anyone, and we do not run advertising trackers on this site. See the cookie policy for exactly what is set in your browser.

Why we use it

  • To create and secure your account, and to sign you in.
  • To take payment, issue tickets, admit you at the gate, and process refunds and transfers.
  • To pay creators and vendors — and to meet the tax and financial-crime rules that come with handling other people’s money.
  • To send you the messages that go with a purchase — your order confirmation, your tickets, a transfer, or news that an event has changed.
  • To provide support, and to investigate fraud, abuse and safety reports.
  • To operate and improve the platform, including search and recommendations.
  • To send you marketing, but only if you asked for it.

Who else sees it

  • Event creators — when you buy a ticket, the creator of that event receives the details needed to run it and admit you. See below.
  • Vendors — where a creator books a vendor through the platform, the two parties see each other's booking details and messages.
  • Payment companies — which one depends on the currency of the event. They decide for themselves how they handle the payment information they hold, under their own privacy policies.
  • Companies that run things for us — the hosting, file storage, email and notification services we use. They only ever act on our instructions.
  • Authorities — where the law requires it, or where we need to make or defend a legal claim.

We do not sell your personal data.

Creators as controllers

When you buy a ticket, the creator running that event gets the details they need to run it. They can see who is coming, check you in at the door, and message you about that event.

From that point they are a controller of your details in their own right, which means they answer for how they use them, not us. Our terms only let them use those details to run the event, and every message they send through Tiqstar respects your unsubscribes. If a creator contacts you outside Tiqstar, that is on them — tell us if that happens.

Email and push

There are two kinds. The first come with something you did — your order confirmation, your tickets, a password reset, news that an event moved. Those are part of the service, so you get them either way. The second are marketing messages. You only get those if you asked for them, and every one has an unsubscribe link.

Unsubscribing stops that address everywhere on Tiqstar, not just from one list — including anything a creator sends through our tools. The same happens if your address bounces or you mark us as spam. You can change what you get at any time in your notification settings.

What other people can see

Your name and picture show up where you do something in public — following an artist, or posting a review.

Your name never appears on a public guest list unless you switch that on yourself. Guest lists and check-in screens only show people who turned on activity visibility in their privacy settings. Turn it off and you disappear from those lists, whatever an individual event has chosen.

How we protect it

Everything you send us is encrypted on the way. Passwords are scrambled so that nobody can read them back, including us. Card numbers are held by the payment company and never stored here. Only staff who need access to live data have it, and everything an administrator does is recorded.

No system is perfectly safe. If something goes wrong and your information is affected, we will tell you and the authorities, as the law requires.

How long we keep it

  • Account data — while your account is open.
  • Orders, tickets and payments — for as long as tax and financial-crime rules say we have to, which can be longer than you keep your account. Closing your account does not delete a financial record the law makes us keep.
  • Identity documents — for as long as the law requires, then deleted.
  • The record that you unsubscribed — kept for good. Forgetting it would mean emailing you again.
  • Support conversations — kept while they are still useful for helping you or settling a dispute.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong — most of it you can edit yourself in account settings;
  • delete your account and the data we are not required to keep;
  • stop using your data for marketing, which you can also do yourself by unsubscribing;
  • stop using it in a particular way, or give you a copy you can take somewhere else.

Email privacy@tiqstar.com and we will reply inside the time the law allows. If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Children

Tiqstar is not for children. You need to be old enough to enter into a contract where you live. If you think a child has given us their details, tell us and we will delete them.

International transfers

We operate in several countries, and the companies that host our systems and handle payments may hold your information outside the country you are in. When that happens, we use the legal protections that exist for moving information between countries.
