Terms of service

What you agree to when you browse events, buy a ticket, sell tickets, or offer your services on Tiqstar.

Last updated 2 August 2026

The agreement

These terms cover everything you use: the website, the apps, and the creator and vendor tools. You accept them when you make an account or buy a ticket. If you do not want to accept them, do not use Tiqstar.

Tiqstar is a marketplace. Events are put on by the creators who list them. Services are supplied by the vendors who offer them. We provide the platform, take the payment and issue the ticket.

That means the deal to attend an event is between you and the creator, not between you and us. We are not the organiser, and except where these terms say otherwise we are not part of that deal.

Your account

You need an account to buy or to sell. Give us details that are correct, and keep them up to date. Your tickets and receipts go to the email address on your account, so a wrong address means a ticket you cannot use.

Whatever happens under your account is your responsibility. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has got in. You can see every device you are signed in on, and sign any of them out, from your account settings.

You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live. Individual events can set their own age limits — those are shown on the event page and checked at the door by the creator.

Roles on the platform

Every account starts as a guest. As a guest you can browse, buy tickets, save events and manage your wallet. Selling tickets or offering services is something you apply for.

  • Creator — apply from for creators. A person reviews every application before an account can publish an event or take money.
  • Vendor — apply from for vendors. Same review.

We may need to check who you are, or who your business is, before we approve you. We can ask for that when you apply, before we send you money for the first time, or when the law or one of our payment partners requires it.

We can turn down an application, or take a role away later. We will do that if we cannot complete those checks, or where these terms have been broken.

Buying tickets

When you buy, we hold your tickets while the payment goes through, then issue them the moment it is confirmed. A hold is not a purchase. If you do not finish paying inside the time shown, the tickets go back on sale.

Every ticket carries its own QR code. A screenshot of somebody else's ticket will not get you in — the code is checked at the gate, and a code that has already been scanned is refused.

You can pass a ticket to someone else through Tiqstar where the creator allows it. You may not sell a ticket for more than its face value, and you may not sell it anywhere other than Tiqstar. Tickets sold that way can be cancelled, which leaves whoever bought them with nothing.

The event itself is the creator's responsibility: what happens, the running order, the venue, safety, and the behaviour of the people running it.

Selling tickets

If you sell tickets on Tiqstar, these are yours to get right:

  • Describe the event honestly — the date, the venue, who is playing, any age limit, and what a ticket does and does not include.
  • Hold whatever licences, permissions and insurance the event needs.
  • Run the event as advertised. If something important changes, tell your ticket holders quickly.
  • Set a refund policy and stick to it. It appears on your event page before anyone buys.
  • Look after your guests' personal details properly. You get them so you can run the event, not so you can build a mailing list for something else.

Your event content stays yours. You give us permission to show, copy and promote it across Tiqstar and in our own marketing while your event is listed.

Offering services

Vendors list what they do, and creators book them through Tiqstar. Describe your services honestly, hold any licence or insurance your trade needs, and deliver what you agreed.

We hold the money for a booking from the moment the creator pays. We send it to you once the booking is marked complete. If either side disputes a booking, the money stays where it is until that is sorted out.

Do not take payment for a Tiqstar booking outside Tiqstar. If you do, neither of you has that protection any more.

Fees and payouts

Tiqstar charges a 7% platform fee on paid ticket sales and on vendor bookings. The rate depends on the country, and the current rate for every country we operate in is on the pricing page. On top of that, the company handling the payment charges its own fee, which is also different in each country. Free tickets carry no platform fee.

The creator decides who pays each fee. It can come out of what they receive, or be added at checkout. Either way you see the breakdown before you pay, and the total on the checkout page is exactly what leaves your account.

Payments are handled by a licensed payment company, which one depending on the currency. Your card details go to them and are never stored on our servers. If you choose to save a card, we keep only the last four digits and a code that means nothing outside that company.

Creators and vendors are paid into the bank or mobile-money account on their payout profile, with fees taken off. We hold money back where there is an open refund request, an unfinished identity check, or a payment a buyer has disputed with their bank.

Refunds and cancellations

Each creator sets the refund policy for their own event, and it is on the event page before you buy. Ask for a refund from your order, and the request goes to the creator to approve or decline.

If an event is cancelled, you are entitled to the ticket price back. If the creator has already been paid and does not fund the refund, we can only return what we are holding or can recover from them.

If an event is postponed or changes in an important way, your ticket carries over to the new date, unless the creator's policy says otherwise.

Refunds go back to the way you paid. The payment company usually keeps its own fee even on a refund, so that small part may not come back.

What you may not do

You may not use Tiqstar to:

  • list an event you have no right to run, or one that does not exist;
  • sell tickets above face value, or use software to buy them up in bulk;
  • launder money, take payment for anything illegal, or get around sanctions;
  • send marketing to guests who did not ask for it, or to anyone who has unsubscribed;
  • harass, threaten or pretend to be someone else;
  • attack, scrape, overload or take apart the platform, or get around our rate limits and access controls.

If you want software to talk to Tiqstar, use our documented API with a valid key, inside its published limits — see developers.

Things you upload

What you own stays yours. When you upload an image, a description, a portfolio or a review, you are confirming you have the right to use it.

You also give Tiqstar a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, show and share that content so that we can run and promote the platform. In plain terms: we can display it here and use it in our own marketing, you keep owning it, and you can still use it anywhere else you like.

Reviews have to be about something that actually happened to you. We remove anything illegal, dishonest, stolen, or posted to push a rating up or down.

Closing an account

You can close your account whenever you like, from your account settings.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that we have good reason to think is being used fraudulently, or where the law or a payment partner requires us to.

Closing an account does not wipe out what is already owed. Tickets already sold stay valid, refunds already owed are still owed, and we may hold money until everything outstanding is settled.

What we are responsible for

The platform is provided as it is. We cannot promise it will never go down or never have a fault. We are not responsible for whether an event listed here is any good, is safe, is legal, or happens at all — that is the creator's.

Nothing here limits anything the law does not let us limit — including death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud. Apart from that, if you have a claim against us about something you paid for through Tiqstar, the most we can be liable for is the amount you paid on that transaction.

Changes to these terms

We update these terms as the platform changes. The date at the top of this page is always the current version. If a change affects you in an important way, we will tell you before it starts applying. If you carry on using Tiqstar after that, you are accepting the new terms.
